Learning How To interview

To finish this week off I want to research a little bit into interviewing. Specifically, today I want to learn about the various interview styles I could potentially use. I wanted to make sure I reached into interviewing prior to finalizing my questions next week. I believe this research will help me create better questions in addition to familiarizing me to more interview styles. I will begin my research with a quick search on YouTube.

Every Interview Style Explained (A documentary masterclass)

This video was super insightful into the various interview styles I could use. It went over standard, host standard, conversational, host conversation, in the moment, and voice over interview styles. In addition to describing the style, the video also gave an abundance of examples. I could reference these examples later on just for further familiarization of a certain interview style. I think a combination of host conversation and voice over would be the best for my documentary.

I am definitely glad I looked into the various interview styles. Now when creating the questions next week I will have a better understanding of how I will implement the interviews. Finally, today I just want to look into how I could create a connection with my interviewee. I feel as if my last interviewee was very serious, even though I knew him personally.

TOP DOCUMENTARY INTERVIEW TIPS: How to Get Better, Deeper Responses:
The video on top was very insightful into how I can gather deeper responses. The most important tip I got was to conduct a pre-interview. I think this will definitely help break the ice. I also will use pauses more to allow the interviewee to think and develop their response. I definitely think last time I rushed my interviewee. I learned a lot of useful interview based tips today! My research today will definitely heighten my interview production.
