So today I want to figure out what I can focus on within my documentary. My last post I described the general idea of my documentary being martial arts. I also mentioned that I will make my excerpt episode based on Jiu Jitsu. I chose to create an episode except on Jiu Jitsu mainly because of the coaches I have access too. As I previously stated, I've been fortunate enough to be surrounded by top tier Jiu Jitsu practitioners and athletes. This project is a perfect opportunity to gain a deeper insight into my coaches and teammates Jiu Jitsu journey.
I feel like focusing on what practicing martial arts has done for my teammates and coaches would be great. Focusing on the benefits of doing martial arts would allow my interviewee to reflect on the entirety of their Jiu Jitsu journey. I think my documentary except should be separated into two main sections, the interviewees journey doing Jiu Jitsu and how they benefited from. Today I just want to create some initial interview questions. I prefer starting by creating questions then using the questions to guide the documentaries structure.
Initial Question Ideas:- When did you start Jiu Jitsu?
- Why did you start Jiu Jitsu?
- How long did it take you to get to your current belt?
- What makes you show up to class?
- Do you ever have days where you don't want to come? If so what makes you go?
- What have you learned doing Jiu Jitsu?
- Do you think you've grown as a person doing Jiu Jitsu?
- Tell me the top 3 benefits of doing Jiu Jitsu?
- Would you recommend Jiu Jitsu for others? If so why?
- How do you feel after a practice and competition?
