Inspiration

     The NBA or NFL of mixed martial arts is the UFC, the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The UFC is at the top of the list for mixed martial arts promotions. It has transcended the sport of MMA into the modern world over the course of 30 years. As the promotion advanced, its use of media for promotional purposes has also advanced. The UFC's YouTube channel has 15 Million subscribers and their Instagram has a following of 36 Million. 

    The UFC production team produces several different types of media. This ranges from episodic documentaries, reality TV shows, vlogs, interviews, and short films coined as "the countdown" for upcoming UFC events. These productions are very well produced using many advanced filming techniques. For the massive upcoming UFC 285 event this weekend, the UFC put out a series of vlogs highlighting the various fighters on the main card. These episodes have offered a lot of inspiration. One episode in particular seen bellow has several techniques I can implement within my production.

      I love the establishing shots used throughout this episode especially at the start. The use of lighting in the first scene was also very nice as it transitioned the main fighter of the card from the dark into the light. There was also a lot of voice over throughout the episode. Typically the voice overs are used as a voice bridge into interviews of the individual speaking. Many of the shots were also taken from the fighters acting naturally, the filmer would be covert. I think this would be a very nice addition to my piece. I also like the simple and elegant graphic they used to introduce the interviewees. I will definitely take inspiration from this. Overall this episode specially inspired me a lot. I will continue to reference UFC productions tomorrow to further gather inspiration.
