Getting the first shots

Shooting Day 1🎥

    In my last post, I tasked myself with getting 6 shots today. I began my day around 10 AM when I started setting up all my film equipment. I got all my film equipment and put it in a portable bag. I then began putting on my costume. I made sure to film right after I woke up. I wanted to look visibly tired and rugged. I then set off to the film location. 

    When I got there, I began looking around for a tree to get the shot in the tree. It was really hard at first to find one I would be able to climb up. After a while, I found a tree I could barely get upon. It was super difficult to set the shot up while I was up there. My foot was logged in between two branches and I was holding on to a branch with one of my hands. I had to work the tripod and camera with one hand. You could just see how difficult it was with the video on the left.

    All the struggle ended up paying off when I got the shot on the right. It is the exact shot that I wanted, I think it turned out perfectly. This was shot 6, I used the same camera position to shoot shots 7-8 that had the character searching in different places. After filming this, I went to shoot 10-11 when I realized I forgot the mushroom at my house. I still wanted to attempt the shot and got what you see below. 

    I really liked how this shot turned out. I think the focus pull could have been done a little better but I am satisfied with it. I might retake the shot to have the mushroom in the frame. This was an important feature in the opening to hint at the fungi theme. Either way, getting this shot really showed me what I had to do. I liked the location it was shot as well. The camera really looks engulfed by the wilderness around it. 

    

    Today was a great day for filming. I specifically really love the first shot that I took. It was so hard to get and it paid off when I finally did. I am starting to see my project come to life which really excites me. I can't wait to continue filming this week!
