Figuring Out the Technical Things

 Filming:

Recently I got the iPhone 13 Pro Max which was a huge upgrade for me. Before I had the iPhone 8+ which filmed horribly. I knew that the 13 Pro was coming with upgrades to the camera. After little research, I found out there is a new "Cinematic Mode" feature on the phone. I wanted to look into more specifics about the feature so I went straight to YouTube.
This video was super informative. It went over the specific features of the Cinematic Mode. There are several things a user can control like the blur amount. You can also change the exposure of the film. But most importantly, you can control the focus in post-production. This is such a nice feature for me. I hate creating background blur in my editing software. It's so much easier doing it right on set. Also, it will be way easier to achieve proper focus pulls. When I was at the film location, I realized quickly how rugged the terrain was. I do want some handheld shots but I also want proper stabilized ones. There is no way to achieve this on an iPhone without a tripod. I went on Amazon and found the ones below.

I specifically chose this tripod because of its flexibility. At my film location, I'll attach the tripod to a tree and be able to film from high angles. This way I might be able to achieve some neat shots from the tops of the trees. I am also going to look into the best post-production techniques for the film from an iPhone. But before I do this I will have to create mood boards for my opening. This is something I plan on doing earlier in the week. It will help me determine many aesthetic factors in my production. It will also give me a proper sense of what I am trying to achieve. Unitl then I am going to continue to ask people what they think of my plot. People's suggestions will help me a lot!
