Music Marketing Blog Post #1

 Brainstorming

    My group and I began by determining a common theme for marketing. After some discussion, a retro aesthetic was chosen. We believed that it would fit well with the music genre R&B. Inspiration from the polaroid aesthetic is also something we considered. We plan on using camcorders in parts of the video to push the retro aesthetic. The storyline of the song will be followed in some fashion. As the song is a love song we thought it was best to focus on this singer's love. 
    Concerning marketing, we have started making models of logos and album covers. Bellow is an image used as inspiration for the logo. The neon colors feed well into the retro theme. Logos and album covers were decided to be simple. We did not want to overcomplicate the images. Instead, we wanted simple but effective marketing. 
    Further marketing strategies have to be discussed. We plan on developing the specific aspects of the artist's social media. Things such as the posts, stories, descriptions, and platforms have to be discussed. We also need to consider other elements such as merchandise. There are several routes we could take, the most obvious being apparel. Our next steps are to overall finalize the marketing strategy. Now that we have an idea of the direction, we will discuss how to bring it into reality. The brainstorming process was effective in creating a skeleton for the marketing. Specifics now will need to be determined.
